Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant & Other One-time Funding Opportunities

“Over the past 12 months, the pandemic has disrupted our traditional educational processes, altered the educational and social and emotional development of our students, and exposed some major fault lines in educational equity, instructional practices, and even school infrastructure.

As a result, both the Federal government and state of California have directed unprecedented one-time expenditures to schools to facilitate safe school reopenings and address these educational needs.” The Los Angeles Unified is asking families for input regarding how we invest one-time funds from the state and federal government. Reopening of Schools Parent Survey- Due March 19

The purpose of this questionnaire is to let Los Angeles Unified know how your child will participate in instruction when schools reopen. All families will need to complete this Program Selection Form by March 19 so that we can adequately prepare to provide an instructional program that meets your child’s needs. Please note that if no response is received for your child, the default will be for your child to continue learning online. You will also have the option to change how your child will participate in instruction every two weeks after schools reopen by contacting your school.

Black Lives Matter Week Feb. 1st - Feb 5th

Black Lives Matter at School is a national committee of educators organizing for racial justice in education. Black Lives Matter at School encourages all educators, students, parents, unions, and community organizations to join their annual Week of Action during the first week of February each year.

The Black Lives Matter at School movement first started in Seattle during the fall of 2016, when thousands of educators in Seattle came to school on October 19th wearing shirts that said, “Black Lives Matter: We Stand Together.” Hundreds of families and students did too. Many of the shirts also included the message “#SayHerName,” a campaign to raise awareness about the often unrecognized state violence and assault of women in our country."
